L. Joyce Bell, 81, of Greeley, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 7, 2015 at the Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado.

She was born August 17, 1934 in Texarkana, Texas to Charles Gilbert and Norma Lois (Birmingham) Bell. Joyce graduated from Texas High School in Texarkana, Texas in 1952. She continued her education receiving degrees from North Texas State University and East Texas State University. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa and PEO.

Joyce devoted her life to the education of children. She retired from teaching after 40 years and continued to volunteer at local elementary schools for many years. She often played bridge with friends and had a passionate sweet tooth – a favorite being her beloved fruit cake she would order every holiday season from Mary of Puddin Hill in Texas.

Joyce is survived by her brother, Charles (Marilynn) Bell of Texarkana, Ark., and was the loving mother of four children: Sharon (Mel) Wright of Greeley, Colo., Mitch (Jane) Smith of Garland, Texas, Elisha (Matt) Dickerson of Homer, Alaska and Jay (Nina) Barrow of Paonia, Colo. She was a proud “Mamo” to six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Gilbert and Norma Lois Bell.

Memorials may be made in Joyce's memory to the Alpha Delta Kappa, Epsilon Chapter Scholarship Fund or the Community Outreach Center in care of Moser Funeral Service, 3501 S. 11th Avenue, Evans, Colorado 80620.

A celebration of Joyce’s life will take place 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 28, 2015 at the Elsa Bormann Chapel at Bonell Good Samaritan Society, 607 23rd Street in Greeley.
