Lonnie D. Thomas, 79, of Greeley, died on Monday, March 13, 2006 at the North Colorado Medical Center. Mr. Thomas was born on July 25, 1926 in Dike, Texas to Robert E. and Cloda (Johnson) Thomas. He spent his youth in the Sulpher Springs and Winnsboro, Texas areas. He graduated from Pickton High School and later attended Dallas Community College. Lonnie served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to1952. In Greeley he worked for Witco Optical from 1969 until 1992. He then worked for Corchran Optical for five years until his health would no longer allow it. Lonnie enjoyed traveling with his wife and grandchildren, and especially enjoyed New England, the Northwest and the Grand Lake areas. Survivors include his wife, Anne P. Thomas of Greeley; a daughter and her husband, Jan & Bruce Hanlon of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; a son, Mark W. Thomas of Denver; four grandchildren, Tyler and Grant Hanlon both of Highlands Ranch and Jonathon and Jennifer Thomas both of Denver; a niece, Virginia Searcey of Dallas, Texas; a great niece, Jennifer Michel of Walnut Creek, California and Brandon Searcey of Dallas, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until Noon on Saturday, March 18, 2006 and from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 19, 2006 at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, address below. A funeral service to celebrate Lonnie's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 20, 2006 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 2222 23rd Avenue, Greeley, Colorado. Cremation will follow the funeral services.
