Luis Diaz Villalobos, 72, of Greeley, Colorado, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2026, surrounded by his family.

He was born on March 14, 1954, in Villa Garcia, Zacatecas, Mexico, to Antonia Villalobos and Torivio Diaz. He attended school there and eventually began working. Luis was somewhat of a jack-of-all-trades throughout his life, though he worked most often in construction. For a time, he also played baseball for his hometown team, where he was a renowned third baseman. Baseball remained a true passion of his throughout his life, and even when he was no longer playing, he enjoyed keeping up with the sport and following his favorite teams.

Luis met the love of his life, Belinda Delgado Diaz, and together they had seven beautiful children. Their family meant everything to them. Eventually, Luis and Belinda moved to the United States, where they made their home for many years. Still, Luis’s heart always belonged to Mexico, and he returned home as often as he could to spend time with his children, grandchildren, and extended family.

Luis was preceded in death by his parents, Antonia and Torivio; his son, Edgar; his sisters, Antonia and Teresa; and his brother, Fidel.

He is survived by his wife, Belinda Delgado Diaz; his children, Alberto, Cesar, Jesus, Octavio, Belinda Reyna, and Jacqueline Diaz; 17 beloved grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.

It was Luis’s wish to return to his hometown in Mexico, where services and burial will take place. No local services will be held at this time.

Luis was deeply loved and cherished by his family and all who knew him. He will be dearly missed, and his memory will remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

Nació el 14 de marzo de 1954 en Villa García, Zacatecas, México, hijo de Antonia Villalobos y Torivio Diaz. Asistió a la escuela allí y, con el tiempo, comenzó a trabajar. A lo largo de su vida, Luis fue un hombre de muchos oficios, aunque trabajó principalmente en la construcción. Durante un tiempo, también jugó béisbol para el equipo de su pueblo, donde fue un reconocido tercera base. Aun así, el corazón de Luis siempre perteneció a México, y regresaba a su tierra tan a menudo como podía para pasar tiempo con sus hijos, nietos y demás familiares.

Luis fue precedido en la muerte por sus padres, Antonia y Torivio; su hijo, Edgar; sus hermanas, Antonia y Teresa; y su hermano, Fidel.

Le sobreviven su esposa, Belinda Delgado Diaz; sus hijos, Alberto, Cesar, Jesus, Octavio, Belinda Reyna y Jacqueline Diaz; sus 17 queridos nietos; además de muchos otros familiares y amigos.

Era deseo de Luis regresar a su pueblo natal en México, donde se llevarán a cabo los servicios funerarios y su sepultura. Por el momento, no se realizarán servicios locales.

Luis fue profundamente amado y querido por su familia y por todos aquellos que lo conocieron. Será profundamente extrañado, y su recuerdo permanecerá en los corazones de quienes deja atrás.
