Luz María Sánchez Luján, conocida cariñosamente por su familia como Mami, Nana y Negra, falleció el viernes 12 de diciembre de 2025 en el North Colorado Medical Center en Greeley, Colorado.
Nació el 22 de abril de 1965 en Durango, México, hija de Juan Sánchez y Tiburcia Luján. Cursó estudios hasta el octavo grado y posteriormente se dedicó con amor a su hogar y a la crianza de sus tres hijas. En 1994 se trasladó a Greeley, Colorado, y en 2015 estableció su residencia en Ault, Colorado, donde vivió hasta el momento de su fallecimiento.
A Luz le gustaba tejer y cocinar para las personas importantes en su vida. Disfrutaba especialmente viajar para visitar y convivir con su familia en México. Atesoraba el tiempo con sus hijos y nietos, y será profundamente extrañada por todos quienes la conocieron y la amaron.
Le sobreviven sus hijas: Jessica Avendaño, de Ault, Colorado; Erika Avendaño, de Greeley, Colorado; y Karla Avendaño, de Ault, Colorado; sus hermanos: Marcelino Sánchez, Joaquina Sánchez, José Sánchez y Gilberto Sánchez; 10 nietos y 5 bisnietos.
Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, Tiburcia Luján y Juan Sánchez, así como tres hermanos: Alfredo Sánchez, Manuel Sánchez y Ángel Sánchez.
La velación se llevará a cabo de 4:00 p. m. a 7:00 p. m., con el rezo del Santo Rosario a las 6:00 p. m., el lunes 22 de diciembre de 2025, en la Capilla de Moser Funeral Service, ubicada en 3501 11th Avenue, Evans, Colorado.
La Misa de Exequias Cristianas se celebrará a las 11:00 a. m. el martes 23 de diciembre de 2025, en la Iglesia Católica St. Mary, ubicada en 2222 23rd Avenue, Greeley, Colorado. La inhumación se realizará posteriormente en el Cementerio de Ault, en Ault, Colorado.
Luz Maria Sanchez Lujan, known lovingly by her family as Mami, Nana, and Negra, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025, at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, Colorado.
She was born on April 22, 1965, in Durango, Mexico to Juan Sanchez and Tiburcia Lujan. She attended school through the 8th grade and went on to become a loving homemaker and mother to her three daughters. In 1994 she moved to Greeley, Colorado, and in 2015 she would make her home in Ault, Colorado, where she lived until she passed away.
Luz enjoyed knitting and cooking for the people in her life. She especially enjoyed travelling to visit and spend time with her family in Mexico. She cherished time with her children and grandchildren and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughters, Jessica Avendano of Ault, Colorado, Erika Avendano of Greeley, Colorado, and Karla Avendano of Ault, Colorado; siblings, Marcelino Sanchez, Joaquina Sanchez, Jose Sanchez, and Gilberto Sanchez; 10 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Luz is preceded in death by her parents, Tiburcia Lujan and Juan Sanchez, and three brothers, Alfredo Sanchez, Manuel Sanchez, and Angel Sanchez.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with Recitation of Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m., on Monday, December 22, 2025, at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 11th Avenue, in Evans, Colorado.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 2222 23rd Avenue in Greeley, Colorado. Interment will follow at Ault Cemetery in Ault, Colorado.
