Obituary

Mabel Lucille Baxter, 82, of Briggsdale, Colorado, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Medical Center of the Rockies.

Mabel was born on April 4, 1944, in Greeley, Colorado, to Louis S. and Margaret L. (Reed) Sierman. She was a lifelong resident of Briggsdale and attended Northeastern Junior College. On January 13, 1964, she married George Elliot Baxter.

Mabel began her career with the Briggsdale School District as a bus driver before serving her community through the United States Postal Service, first as a mail carrier and later as Postmaster. She was a devoted member of Briggsdale Baptist Church and was active in the Gideons Auxiliary, the National Association of Postmasters of the United States (NAPUS), and Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF).

Mabel enjoyed bowling, supporting Briggsdale High School athletics, and spending time with her family and friends. She was known for her strong faith, dedication to her community, and love for those around her.

She is survived by her sons, Vance Baxter and Vaughn (Robin) Baxter; her daughter, Christie (Norm) Seeley; her sisters, Margaret Peterson, Verda Ball, and Joyce Krise; 33 grandchildren; and more than 40 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Baxter; her parents, Louis and Margaret Sierman; her daughter, Teresa Fassler; her sister, Doris Naibauer; and her brother, Andy Sierman.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 8, 2026, at Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 11th Avenue, Evans, Colorado. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Crow Creek Event Center, 37442 State Highway 392, Briggsdale, Colorado. Interment will follow at Briggsdale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gideons International in Mabel's name.
