Obituary

Madelyn Ruth Ervin, 87, of Greeley, died on Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at the Life Care Center in Greeley. She was born on February 19, 1919 in Denver, Colorado to Sherman and Hazel(Simpson) Bailey. She graduated from Denver South High School in 1937. Madelyn married Maurice T. Ervin on January 27, 1940 in Denver. They moved to Greeley in 1974 from Elbert, Colorado. Mrs. Ervin worked at the Colorado General Hospital in Denver and later worked at the Colorado School of Mines in the library. She was the librarian for Dolores County High School in Dove Creek and later worked at the Woolco Store in Greeley. Music was a big part of her life. She sang in many productions in high school and throughout her life directed and sang in many church and community choirs and after moving to Greeley was a member of the Keenage Singers. Madelyn was known for her wonderful sense of humor and even up until her last days at the Life Care Center she would sing for the staff and make them laugh with her lively wit. Survivors include 2 sons and their wives, Maurice "Stringy" and Karen Ervin of Littleton and Bob and Anita Ervin of Greeley; 6 grandchildren and their spouses, Eric and Shawna Ervin of Denver, Kent and Lindsey Ervin of Highlands Ranch, Bobby and Kristin Ervin of Windsor, Gary and Sheila Ervin of Greeley, Michelle and Jeff Jerome of Eagle River, Alaska and Doug and Becky Wilson of Grand Junction, Colorado and 11 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1985. Private family graveside funeral services to celebrate Madelyn's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 2, 2006 at the Chapel Hill Cemetery in Littleton, Colorado. No visitation is scheduled.
