Malachi E. Ballard
Mal Ballard 84, of Evans, CO died March 26, 2010 in Greeley. He was born in Akron, Colorado to Arlie and Blanche Ballard. He was the oldest of 8 brothers and sisters.
Survivors: His brother Bob of Hoisington, Kansas; his wife, Frankie Lou of Evans; sons, Jim of Longmont and Keith of Greeley; daughters, Susan Engel of Longmont and Lu Ann Ballard of Evans; 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Preceded: He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Albert, Frank and Bill and 3 sisters, Edith, Betty and Beatrice.
Tribute: Mal was a WWII veteran serving on the Aleutian Islands as a Staff Driver for Commanding Officers. On March 5, 1950 Mal and Frankie Lou Campbell were married in Rocky Ford, CO. They recently celebrated their 60th anniversary. He was a Lineman for most of his working life which eventually led him to develop an Apprentice Training Program that is still widely used. He retired from the City of Longmont Electric Department as a supervisor.
He enjoyed his family, especially chasing all his grandchildren around the Front Range watching them play their various sports and activities. He also enjoyed fast cars, Nascar racing, Rockies baseball, the Bronco's, model airplane building and travel.
Mr. Ballard was a baptized believer in the Lord and a member of the Evans Methodist Church.
Services: Memorial services to celebrate Mal's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 1, 2010 at the Evans Methodist Church (602 39th Street) in Evans, CO.
