Obituary

Manuel A. Naranjo, 79, of Ault, died on Friday, March 20, 2009 at the Hospice & Palliative Care of Northern Colorado Inpatient Unit in Greeley. He was born on June 2, 1929 to Leopoldo and Juanita Naranjo in Trujillo, New Mexico. Mr. Naranjo grew up on the family ranch at Las Vegas, New Mexico. On September 16, 1951 he married Agnes Chavez of Las Vegas, New Mexico and they moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming where he started employment with Union Pacific Railroad until his retirement on November of 1988. Manuel and Agnes raised their children in the Pierce and Ault areas. His wife Agnes died on October 26, 1982. After the death of his first wife, Manuel remarried to Barb Young of New Mexico on February 16, 1984. Manuel was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ault. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and most of all being surrounded by family and friends and the quality time he spent with them. Manuel was best known by all who knew him for having a kind, loving and giving heart to anyone; whether in need or not. He is survived by his wife Barb Naranjo of Ault; daughters, Bessie Gerlach and husband Jim of Evans, Juanita Olmos and husband Alejandro of Olatha, Kansas, Dora Johnston and husband George of Nunn, Corrine Hernandez and husband Raul of Evans, Bertha Salazar and husband Anthony of Evans; a son, Manuel Joe Naranjo Jr. and wife Cecelia of Eaton; 15 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren; step daughters, Jolene Gierach and Brenda Young; step grandchildren; 5 sisters, Mary Trujillo, Delores Trujillo, Bessie Duran and husband Ernie, Eva Yara and husband Trinky and Pauline Duran; brothers, Frank Naranjo and wife Bertha, Adolf Naranjo and wife Cedilia, Leopoldo Naranjo Jr. and wife Erna, Nasario Naranjo and Bernie Naranjo and Many very special nephews, nieces and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Juanita and Leopoldo Naranjo, his first wife, Agnes Naranjo, brothers, Alfonso, Selso, Cecelio and Gabriel and sisters, Beatrice Trujillo and Stella Trujillo. The Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 24th at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 1311 3rd Street in Greeley. Interment Ault Cemetery. Recitation of Rosary 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel. Visitation from 1:00 p.m. until time of Rosary on Monday at the funeral home.
