Maria Del Socorro Gaona, 81 of Evans, died on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at the Hospice & Palliative Care Inpatient Unit in Greeley. She was born on April 16, 1927 in Progreso, Coahuila, Mexico to Irineo and Teodosa (Vasquez) Cruz. Maria married Remijio Gaona in 1955 in Cuidad Acuna, Coahuila, Mexico. He preceded her in death in 1994. She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, crocheting and sewing and she has lived in Evans since 1968. She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Bosaw and husband Lawrence of Ft. Lupton; 2 sons, Arturo Ibarra and wife Cipriana of LaSalle and Fernando Ibarra and wife Felis of Greeley; 3 step daughters, Victoria Gaona and Yolanda Gaona both of Greeley and Alicia Gaona of Boulder; a step son, Ernesto Gaona and wife Lori of Loveland; a brother, Irineo Cruz of Monclora, Coahuila, Mexico; 29 grandchildren, 62 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Remijio Gaona and a step son, Perfecto Gaona. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 19, 2009 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 1311 3rd St. in Greeley. Interment Evans Cemetery. Recitation of Rosary will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 18th at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 S. 11th Avenue in Evans. Visitation will be from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
