Marion Gallegos Perea, 62, of Greeley, died on Thursday, January 19, 2006 at the Hospice & Palliative Care of Northern Colorado Inpatient Unit.
She was born on January 12, 1944 in Wasco, California to Mariano and Marie (Herrera) Valadez.
Marion lived in Ault for most of her teenage years and later married Gilbert Gallegos in 1962. The couple moved to Ft. Collins following their marriage. They later moved to Greeley in 1976. Gilbert preceded her in death in 1993.
She worked as a community outreach coordinator for Catholic Charities Northern. She was the founding program director for Los Alegeros Ancianos.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Laurie Gallegos and her husband Gerald of Greeley and Teresa Gallegos of Greeley; a son, Gilbert "Rick" Gallegos Jr. of Greeley; 14 grandhcildren and 13 great grandchildren all of Greeley; 5 sisters, Erminia Caserez, Margie "Maggie" Garcia, Ramona Lucero, M. Fran Garza all of Greeley and Frances Beatty of Pueblo; 3 brothers, Don Valadez of Astoria, Oregon, Ralph Valadez of Pagosa Springs, Colorado and Tony Valadez of LaPorte, Colorado and her mother in law, Martha Gallegos of Las Vegas, Nevada. In addition to her husband, Gilbert, she is preceded in death by her parents, a grandaughter, Anna Gallegos and a sister, Mabel Valdez.
A memorial service to celebrate Marion's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 23, 2006 at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 S. 11th Avenue in Evans. Cremation.
