Marleigh V. Portner, 81 of Greeley, Colorado formerly of New Ulm, Minnesota, died on August 8, 2009 at the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley.
She was born on June 16, 1928 in Mankato, Minnesota to Clem and Bernice (Johnson) Dillon. She graduated from the Mankato High School in 1946.
Marleigh married Kenneth A. Portner on September 11, 1949 in Mankato. He preceded her in death in 1981.
Mrs. Portner was a dedicated homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family and she loved music and reading. She is a past member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in New Ulm. She moved to Greeley in July of 1998 from New Ulm.
Survivors include her daughter, Cherie Arnsdorf and husband Warren of Greeley; 4 grandchildren, Nathan, Michael and Steven Arnsdorf and Julie Martinez and husband Bryon; 3 great grandchildren, Kaeley and Alana Arnsdorf and Zachary Martinez and her brother John Dillon of Mankato. In addition to her husband Kenneth Portner, she is preceded in death by her parents, Clem and Bernice Dillon and 2 sisters, Joanne Anderson and Sharon Baer.
A memorial gathering where family will greet friends will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 S. 11th Avenue in Evans. A second memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 17, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in New Ulm. Interment will follow at the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm, MN.
