Mary LaVonne
Horan
Mar 2, 1952 — Oct 12, 2026
Greeley, Colorado
Mary LaVonne (Kain) Horan, 74, entered into eternal life on Monday, October 12, 2026, in Greeley, Colorado.
Mary was born on March 2, 1952, in Sterling, Colorado. Her parents were Alvin and MaryAnn Kain. She was raised in a loving home as the eldest of four children. Mary graduated from high school in 1970 and continued her education at Northeastern Junior College, attending cosmetology school and graduating in 1971.
Later she went to Aims Community College in Greeley, Colorado, and graduated with an accounting degree. She then went on to work for Island Grove Regional Treatment Center, Advanced Plumbing and Heating, and Pro Plumbing & Heating. Mary also worked for smaller companies before she retired.
During her younger years, her family spent so much time at the ballpark in the summer, and those years were wonderful memories for her. Mary loved playing softball for a variety of teams, playing first base.
Mary was so creative and it showed in her all her art: her drawing, her crafts, and sewing. She loved making holiday crafts for Christmas. She loved to crochet and knit, making baby blankets, afghans, hats, and gloves at Christmas for family and friends. She will be remembered for her kindness to others, helping everyone when she could, and she had a great listening ear for those that needed her.
Nothing was more important to Mary than her children and grandchildren. She was always available to each of them whatever they needed.
Mary is survived by her children: son, Sean (Marni) Horan and granddaughter, Pearl; daughter, Nikki Lara (Jeremiah Munson, significant other) and granddaughters, Anazae and Nyelli, and grandsons, Zak and Tre. She is also survived by her siblings, Nancy (Tom) Skouge, Ken (LeeAnn) Kain, and Greg (Angie) Kain; nieces, Roni Kirchhevel, Heather Phipps, Lindsey Simkavitz, Ashley Kain, and Kara Kain; nephew, Tyler Kain; plus many great-nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and MaryAnn Kain.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 11th Avenue in Evans, Colorado.
