Obituary

Mary Evaline Lloyd Skiles Rau, 94, of Eaton went to dwell with her Lord, March 24, 2020 at Fairacres Manor in Greeley, Colorado.

She was born in Wellington, Colorado on September 8, 1925 to Charles and Ella Jane (McManaway) Lloyd.

She grew up on a farm between Pierce and Nunn Colorado. She attended all twelve grades in Pierce and graduated from Pierce High School in 1944.

She married Fred Rau, November 29, 1957 in Brighton, Colorado and they lived in Eaton. She and Fred had one son. They belonged to The Colorado Red Dale Rovers Camping Club. She and the family enjoyed traveling with the club for many years. She was a homemaker and worked for the Methodist Church and the Town of Eaton City Hall doing janitorial work. She was a volunteer for Fairacres Manor while Fred was a resident there. Fred died June 18, 1991. She enjoyed life while living at Benjamin Square Apartments in Eaton, with special care and help from Vern Hnizdil, a very special Senior Resource Volunteer. After her health declined, in March of 2017, she became a permanent resident of Fairacres Manor in Greeley were Vern continued to be with her.

She enjoyed being with her family and friends and spending time in the mountains. She always found great pleasure in helping people who could use some assistance. She loved being a volunteer where she could. As a devoted participant in her church, she found many close friends and enjoyed their company and friendship immensely.

She was a member of The Alger Memorial United Methodist Church in Eaton. She was baptized June 1985. She attended services at The Harvest Time Tabernacle Church in Evans.

Survivors are her son Duane Rau and wife Brenda of Ault. Two stepsons, Bill Rau of Payson, Arizona; Harold Rau of Eaton. Twenty grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

She was proceeded in death by her mother and father; her husband Fred Rau; three brothers, George Lloyd, Alfred Lloyd and Dennis Lloyd; three sisters, Rachel Hawkins, Hazel Kopsa, and Ada Clayton; three sons, Keith, Ken and Rodney Skiles; one step-son, Robert Rau; and three step-daughters, Gloria Schmidt-Schriner, Joyce Jarmin, and Wilma Miller.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 30, 2020 at the Eaton Cemetery.
