Obituary

Mary Louise “Nana” Scott, of Ault, Colorado, passed away on April 28th, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was a beautiful, strong, and caring woman whose life was centered around the people she loved most.

Mary was united in marriage to Glen Scott on October 12th, 1984, in Laughlin, Nevada. Together, they shared 42 wonderful years of love, partnership, and family. She made her home in Ault since 1986, after previously living in Castle Rock.

A proud graduate of Aurora Central High School, Mary went on to college courses in business. She built a respected career at Western Electric and AT&T; becoming the first female Department Chief in Drafting and Reproduction, and later serving as Chief of Public Relations.

She was actively involved in her community, including the Aurora Chamber of Commerce, Telephone Pioneers of America, and the Lowry Air Force Base Training Center Business Association.

Mary had a deep love for life’s simple joys and had a great passion for horses. She was an owner and breeder of thoroughbred racehorses and loved watching them race. This pastime honed her skill at playing the odds, which brought a twinkle to her eyes. She also raised her own herd of cattle, taking pride in her involvement with Gelbvieh cattle and premium beef programs. She enjoyed shopping, playing Dominos — specifically Mexican Train, as we all know — and cheering on her favorite football team, the Denver Broncos. She adored daisies and roses, and her favorite color was blue.

Her most illuminating joy was her children, and being a mother was hands down her biggest accomplishment, biggest joy, and biggest challenge of her life. She always had a kind word, gentle direction, a shoulder to cry on, and immense love. Her love for her children extended to all the children of the family. She delighted in her relations with both her children and her grandchildren.

The bond she had with her daughter Cheri was special and unbreakable — they were best friends. They stood by each other every single day with constant love, strength, and devotion. They enjoyed many of life’s adventures together, building a foundation of love and memories that transcend time.

She deeply loved her son Russ, and his professional accomplishments with the Air Force and the Airlines made her beam with pride. She was proud of the person she watched him grow into as much as his professional achievements.

Her children’s happiness was her happiness. There’s nothing like the sublime bliss a grandparent feels the first time they hold their grandchildren, and Cheri and Russ gave her this opportunity five times — three with grandchildren, two with great-grandchildren. She enjoyed being a grandmother and lived for the times she could take them on adventures, doing what grandparents do — spoiling them. Her love for her family was effortless and deep, and everyone felt her tender, kind, and fun heart.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Glen Scott. Though their time apart here on earth was brief, their love was everlasting. After a lifetime spent side by side through love, laughter, family, and the life they built together, Glen found his way back to his beloved Mary in Heaven. Their hearts, forever connected, are now reunited once again — together where true love never ends.

She is survived by her children, Russ Oakes and Cheri Schnorr; her son-in-law, Wayne Schnorr; her daughter-in-law, Christine Lynn; her stepchildren, Richard Scott (wife Sharon Scott), John Scott (wife Darla Scott), and Shannon Scott; her grandchildren, Austin Oakes, Brielle Dighero (Chris Dighero), Danielle Heisler (Brandon Heisler), Alexander Scott, Benjamin Scott, Abigail Scott, Ashley Scott, and Jenna Scott; and her great-grandchildren, Briley Dighero and Dalton Heisler.

Mary will be remembered for her strength, kindness, sense of humor, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. She leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and devotion to family that will live on through everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026, at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 11th Avenue in Evans, Colorado. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Castle Rock, Colorado.
