Matthew Blaine Tappy passed away September 8, 2007 at his home in Evans surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on March 7, 1964 in Wheatridge, CO to Lee A. and Janice (December) Tappy. On October 21, 2000, he married Molly Sass in Greeley, CO.
Matt grew up in rural LaSalle and Hereford, CO. He graduated from Pawnee High School in 1982. He attended Northeastern Junior College and went on to Colorado AeroTech where he received a certificate in aviation mechanics. He found his calling with his father when they formed WYCO Telephone Service. He continued to work in the telecommunications industry, most recently at McLeodUSA.
Matt was a third generation Coloradan. His grandparents homesteaded at Stoneham, CO. He loved spending holidays and many occasions at the homestead; eating grandma's great cooking, checking the cattle with grandpa, most of all romping over the prairie with his siblings and cousins. He was a devoted husband, son, brother and father. He enjoyed cooking and baking. In his younger years, he skied and came to enjoy fishing and spending time with his family in the mountains.
Matthew is survived by his wife, Molly Tappy; his 3 children, Clark, and twins Sara and Austin Tappy; his mother, Janice Tappy; his brother, Paul Lee Tappy; his sister and her husband, Cindy and Kevin Schmidt; his brother, John A. Tappy; and his sister, Leeann Rabchenia. He is survived by 5 nieces, 5 nephews, numerous aunts, uncles and an abundance of friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Lee A. Tappy.
A memorial service to celebrate Matt's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1800 21st Avenue. His urn will be placed in the Our Savior's Lutheran Church columbarium.
