Max Arthur Gebauer, 87, of Greeley, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2023, at Grace Pointe in Greeley.
Max was born on February 17, 1936, in Washington County, Colorado, to William August and Emma Trouta (Steinow) Gebauer. He grew up and received his education in Akron.
Max married Joyce Ilean Jackson on January 21, 1955, in Akron where they made their home. He was drafted into the United States Army and served in Panama for two years. After his service, Max attended Pueblo College where he received his associate degree specializing in electronics.
He began working for the State of Colorado in the Division of Communications while living in Grand Junction, Buena Vista and finally Greeley. Max received several promotions during his career and during his last five years, he managed and maintained all of the communication towers in Colorado. During his career, he also drove the snow cat for search and rescue missions for many years. Max retired in 1998.
After his retirement, he traveled extensively with Joyce. He enjoyed taking his grandchildren on RV trips, camping in the mountains. Max enjoyed wood working and especially loved researching genealogy and collecting photos of his family.
Max is survived by his wife, Joyce Gebauer; daughter, Stephanie (Scott) Timm; son, Stuart (Stephanie) Gebauer; four grandchildren, Tasha Timm, Justin (Emily) Gebauer, Trent Timm and Ryan Gebauer (fiancé, Ali Bush); one great-grandchild, Arthur Gebauer; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Helen Harper, Wilferd Gebauer, Robert Gebauer, Alfred Gebauer, Chester Gebauer, Charles Gebauer, Harold Gebauer and Thelma Dean.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
