Obituary

Merrill Ashley Yeo (Sonny), 88, of Greeley died Monday, March 17, 2014 at the Hospice & Palliative Care of Northern Colorado Inpatient Unit in Greeley. He was born November 25, 1925 in Farintosh, Alberta, Canada. Merrill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. On June 9, 1951, he married the love of his life, Anita Gold, and they had 58 years of wedded bliss. They had their son, Merrill, in 1954 and their daughter, Lori, in 1957. He and Anita moved from Canada to Santa Ana, California in 1964, where he worked in sales at Standard Brands Paint Co. for 24 years. After retirement, he moved with Anita in 1990 to Grants Pass, Oregon. In February of 1993, they came to Greeley to be close to their daughter and grandchildren. In his free time, he loved to travel and go on cruises. He loved country music, dancing, gambling, playing card games and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the LaSalle Eagles and the Greeley/Evans Moose Lodge. Survivors include a son, Merrill Wayne Yeo and wife Carolyn of Salem, Oregon; a daughter, Lori Gayle Swift and husband Charles of Greeley, Colorado; granddaughters, Cari Darnell and husband Warren Day of Overland Park, Kansas, Lisa Ann and husband Jeremy Brinkman and great-grandson Seth Charles and great-granddaughter Zoey Kaye of Greeley, Colorado, and granddaughter Stacy Lynn and husband Daniel Brummer and great-granddaughters Natalie, Sophia, and Amelia of Vacaville, California; a grandson, Morgan James Daniel of Albany, Oregon; a sister, Doreen Sellars of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; and lots of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Anita Yeo; parents Ward and Carrie Yeo; brothers Earl, Marvin, and Arthur; and a sister, Mary. A celebration of Mr. Yeo's life will be held 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the LaSalle Eagles, 601 N. 2nd Street, LaSalle, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado in care of Moser Funeral and Cremation Service, 3501 S. 11th Avenue, Evans, Colorado, 80620.
