Michael (Mike) William Rogers, 77, went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Sunday, March 5, 2017, after treatment for esophageal cancer. He was born on January 16, 1940, to William Hansen and Dorothy Winifred (Soundy) Rogers in Loveland. The family moved to Greeley before he was a year old, where he lived ever since.

Mike attended school in Greeley and graduated from Greeley Central High School in 1958 where he had been active in wrestling and played the trombone in the band. He attended the University of Northern Colorado, with courses in business management and automotive electronics.

He had been active in the First United Presbyterian Church (now Cornerstone Community Church) and served terms on the Boards of Elders and Deacons, as well as singing in the choir. He also served on the Boards of Youth for Christ and the Salvation Army. Making many friends, Mike was respected in the community for his generosity and service.

In 1966 he married Rhoda Faith Mock, in Denver; they have always made their home in Greeley, celebrating their 50th anniversary last December. A son, David Michael Rogers, was born to them in 1969. Joint family interests and hobbies were traveling which took them to 21 countries and many areas of the U.S. Mike had been an avid fisherman and skier, which he enjoyed in several countries as well as Colorado.

Mike began working with his father as a young child and later joined him as a partner in Rogers Automotive Inc. He completed 65 years of business last year.

Survivors are his wife, Rhoda, their son, David, daughter-in-law Heila (Stutler), of Colorado Springs, and two grandchildren, Abigail and Daniel Rogers of Boulder. As the oldest of four children, he is also survived by a sister, Pamela Weber, a brother, Stanley Rogers (Lisa), numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

Preceding him in death are his parents, his wife’s parents (Henry and Rosalyn Mock), sister Joan Childress, and niece Barbie Weber Strick.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday afternoon, March 18, at 1:00 p.m. at the Cornerstone Community Church, 1321 Ninth Avenue, Greeley, with a reception to follow. Private inurnment at Linn Grove Cemetery.
