Milton Nathaniel Sandin of Greeley, passed peacefully from this life with his wife, Millicent, of 65 years by his side. Milton was born on a homestead near Closter, NE to Sigfred and Christine Sandin. He graduated from Newman Grove High School, NE, and went on to serve his country during World War II in the Naval Air Corp Pilot Training Program. He was honorably discharged and went on to be a member of American Legion #0018. Milton married Millicent Mae Broberg on June 18, 1946 in Newman Grove, NE. He started his trucking career driving with his future father-in-law in Midway, NE. He moved his new bride to Clarinda, IA and on to Denver, CO in 1956. In 1960 he started working for The Gates Rubber Company, where he drove for thirty nine and one-half years. While driving for Gates, he was awarded the Ryder 1990 National Driver of the Year. Being raised in the country, Milton's desire was to get his family back onto the farm, moving in 1968 to the Kersey area. Living through the depression shaped Milton's values on being a faithful steward and a hard worker, making him a great provider for his family. Taking his entire family on several special vacations throughout the years brought him much joy and also created many great memories for his family. Milton possessed a generous spirit, a quick smile, and was pleasant even during his later years of decline and loss of independence. He was a member of Christ Community Church (formerly First Evangelical Free) but attended Mountain View EFC during his retirement years. His sensitivity to spiritual matters grew, especially during his later years, as he longed for his own homegoing with his Lord. Throughout his life, he encouraged a strong Christian faith in his children and grandchildren, and we all look forward to our reunion with Milton. Milton's family gives special thanks to the caregivers of BeeHive-Evans Number One who have loved and cared for Milton for four and a half years. They, along with Susan Miller from Front Range Hospice, showed his family great compassion and care during his passing. He is survived by his wife Millicent Sandin of Greeley; sons Brent and wife, Vicki, of Spokane, WA; Randy and wife, Lou Anne, of Greeley; Greg and wife, Robbe, of Loveland; and daughter, Valerie, and husband, Richard Huwa, of Windsor. He is also survived by grandchildren Jeremy (Krista) Sandin, David (Heather) Huwa, Derek (Jenna) Sandin, Jerod (Megan) Huwa, Jessica (Anthony) Martinez, Sarah Sandin, Josh Sandin, and great-grandchildren Elizabeth, Jayden, and Duncan Huwa. Brothers, Dale of Ingram, TX; Martin (Marialice) of Lincoln, NE and Jim (Sharon) of Lincoln, CA have also survived him. He is predeceased by his parents, sister, Lenora Irving, and two brothers, Eldon and Marcellus Sandin. A private family inurnment will be held. Memorial Service: A celebration of Milton's life will be held at Mountain View Church (6253 West 28th Street, Greeley, CO, 80634) on Monday, August 15th at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made out to Mountain View EFC.
