Monica Alvarez, 82, of Greeley, died on Friday, October 6, 2006 at her home. She was born on May 4, 1924 in Bronte, Texas to Genaro and Clara (Rangel) Guerrero. Monica married Mateo Alvarez on March 10, 1942 in El Dorado, Texas. He preceded her in death on January 6, 2004. Mrs. Alvarez was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church and she enjoyed sewing, crocheting and gardening. Survivors include 4 daughters and their husbands, Connie and Manuel Garcia of Greeley, Cipriana and Arturo Ibarra of LaSalle, Barbara and Miguel Jiminez of Greeley and Melissa and Christopher Martinez of Greeley; four sons and their wives, Ramiro and Bertha Alvarez, Mateo Alvarez Jr. and wife Connie and Juan Alvarez all of Greeley and Victor & Sherri Alvarez of Loveland; 35 Grandchildren; 60 Great Grandchildren; 7 Great Great Grandchildren; 3 sisters, Eustolia Amarillas & husband Anthony, Clara Amarillas & husband Frank and Mary Richie all of San Jose, CA. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Lenora Cardona; a son, Victor Alvarez; 2 grandsons and 4 grandaughters, 2 sisters, Refina Hernandez and Luisa Romero and a brother, Eluterio Guerrero. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 1311 3rd Street. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the church. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday and from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 S. 11th Avenue in Evans. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens.
