MURVIN "Murv" Coffman, 90, of Evans, passed away on May 26, 2012 at the Life Care Center in Greeley.
Words cannot adequately describe the man whose life we celebrate. Murvin Coffman has left a legacy among all he graced with his presence. Murv recently celebrated his 90th birthday surrounded by his family and friends; graced by a love described only as irreplaceable. He was known for his humor, wit and courage. Truly a part of the "Greatest Generation," Papa proudly served as a Staff Sergeant with the 876th Army Airborne Engineers in World War II. A member of the heavy glider squad, he served in England, France and Germany where he was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a loving husband, brother, father and Papa to his family and a mentor to many friends. Murv is neither leaving behind his wife Sandy, nor his two daughters Lissa and Lori but is arranging a new home for the time when his family and friends can all be together again. Whether leading his men in the Army, leading his family on an honorable path, or leading his dog on a leash, Papa was a man with many roles. A family man and a friend, Sgt. Murvin was born February 18, 1922 in LaSalle to Jess and Lerady (Wamsley) Coffman. He married Sandra (Richards) the love of his life, and was looking forward to their 39th anniversary this year. He was a past chief of the LaSalle volunteer fire department and a member of the VFW Pioneer Post 2121 in Greeley.
Also surviving, his brother, Jess Coffman (Cathie) of Sparks, NV, Sister Betty Hackney (Don) and Shirley Zeman of Kansas, sons-in-law, Charles Nocera of Arvada and Rick Schneider of Hay Springs, NE, Grandchildren Anthony Nocera and great-grandson, Chamberlain, of Arvada, Aaron Nocera (Abby Seidl) of Northglenn, Maxwell Schneider (April Houston), and Zoe Schneider of Hay Springs, step grandchildren, Kelly and PJ Helgoth and Sally of Parker and Greg and Lana Schneider and children of Newton, Kansas. Special friends, his "other kids" Tom, Niki and Heidi Whitman and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorial Service: Thursday, May 31, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 South 11th Avenue in Evans. Reception to follow at the Egg and I Restaurant, 2305 W 27th St.
