Obituary

Nancy Bacon Gueno Cockroft, 88, of Fort Collins, formerly of Greeley and Eaton, passed away Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Columbine West Health Care in Fort Collins.

Nancy was born April 2, 1926 to Harry W. and Fannie (Bacon) Gueno in Delta, Colorado. She graduated Delta High School class of 1944 and went on to graduate Colorado A & M (Colorado State University) in 1952. She taught elementary school in Eaton, Colorado from 1952-1955, then taught in Fort Morgan from 1967-1975. She married Donald E. Cockroft at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Delta, Colorado on December 29, 1946.

Nancy was a member of her high school band and orchestra, the church choir, Trinity Church Bell Choir, Order of Eastern Star, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the American Cancer Society Reach for Recovery. She enjoyed sewing, especially doll clothes and granddaughters' dresses and belonged to numerous bridge clubs. She also enjoyed playing the piano.

She is survived by her sons; Harry William (Bill) Cockroft of Greeley, and Thomas Donald (Tom) & wife Ro Cockroft of Albuquerque, New Mexico; her daughter Sarah Jane (Sally) & husband Gary Buffington of Fort Collins. She is also survived by granddaughters Jennifer and husband Mike McCabe and a great granddaughter, Emerson of Kansas City, Missouri; Nicole and husband George Milanovich and great grandchildren Tyson and Jenna of Broomfield; and Sheila Cockroft, missionary in the Middle East. Her grandsons are Marc & wife Kate Buffington and great grandson Logan of Fort Collins; Matthew Buffington of Colorado Springs; Chris & wife Yumi Cockroft and great granddaughter Amelia of Long Beach, California. Also surviving are her Goddaughter, Jan Throndson of California, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Nancy was preceded by her husband Donald E. Cockroft, her parents Harry and Fannie Gueno, and a brother Peter M. Gueno.

A memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 3rd at Trinity Episcopal Church 3800 W. 20th Street, Greeley.
