Nick Beckey, 90, of Greeley, Colorado died on Friday,. May 4, 2007 at his home. He was born on November 27, 1916 in Windber, Pennsylvania to Steve and Helen (Sipos) Beckey. Mr. Beckey married Lucinda Claar on April 24, 1936 in Cumberland, Maryland. She preceded him in death on December 13,1993. Nick lived in Windber, Pennsylvania from the time of his birth until 1953. He later moved to St. Clair Shores, Michigan where he lived from 1954 until 2005. He had lived in Ft. Collins and Greeley for most of 2005. He served in the U.S. Army in the 210th Infantry Training Battalion during WWII. He worked as a coal miner in Windber, Pennsylvania and later installed insulation in refrigerated milk trucks for Divco in Detroit, Michigan. He enjoyed hunting, golf, horseshoes, baseball, archery, bird watching, animal watching, bowling, rifle shooting and coaching baseball. Survivors include 4 sons, Nick Beckey, Jr. of West Melbourne, Florida, James Beckey of Macomb, Michigan, Richard Beckey of Greeley, Colorado and David Beckey of Midland, Michigan; 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by wife, Lucinda Beckey, his parents, Steve & Helen Beckey; 2 brothers, Steve Becony and Julius Bokonyi and 2 sisters, Mary Castriano and Elizabeth Plasay. A memorial service to celebrate Nick's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2007 at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 S. 11th Avenue in Evans. Cremation has taken place. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army honor team.
