Nila Walters, age 76, of Greeley, CO, passed away on May 26, 2026. 

A Colorado native, Nila was born August 24, 1949, in Denver, CO, to Frank and Gladys (Dittmar) Walters. Nila grew up in Erie, CO and graduated from Erie High School and attended Colorado State College. 

Nila had a strong heart and an independent spirit. She loved gardening; tending her flowers was her passion, and she always had color and blooms surrounding her. She also enjoyed bowling and appreciated her afternoon bowling league and cherished friends.

 After retiring from Xerox at Weld County, she travelled extensively with her friend and travel companion, Patti, taking bus tours that included the Great Lakes and Mackinac Island, Pasadena, CA and the Rose Parade. Nila preferred road trips, and the ladies visited Tennessee, Kentucky, and Texas. Her favorite trips were to warm places with beautiful beaches in Florida and South Carolina.

 Nila was a cherished mother and grandmother and is survived by her daughter, Crystal (Eric) Hoffner of Eaton, CO, and her grandsons, Logan of Windsor and Tristan "T.J." of Eaton. And by her brothers Richard Walters, Gene (Pat) Walters, and sister Nancy Walters; and her nephew, Kevin (Kari) Walters; and niece, Sara (Scott) Pierce. Additionally, she had several beautiful great-nieces and nephews and a new great grandnephew. In addition, Nila leaves behind a large chosen family that she loved dearly. 

Nila was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Gladys (Dittmer) Walters; an infant brother, LeRoy Walters; loving companion, Bill Calkins; and niece, Lisa (Walters) Moore.
