Nita E. Van Schoonhoven May 26, 1918 — August 16, 2009 Age: 91 Residence: Greeley, Colorado
Tribute: Nita Elnora Draper and her twin sister, Nettie Laverne Draper were born on May 26, 1918 in Granby, Missouri to John and Myrtle (Hibbs) Draper.
Nita attended school in Granby, Missouri and graduated in 1938. She gave her life to God at age 19. On June 23, 1949 Nita married Carl E. Van Schoonhoven in Neosho, Missouri. They spent their lives together, some in Missouri until moving to Winner, South Dakota where they lived from 1968 until moving to Greeley, Colorado in 2000.
Nita loved her God, her family, and mother nature. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Mrs. Van Schoonhoven died on Sunday August 16, 2009 at Fairacres Manor in Greeley, Colorado.
Survivors: Her son, Henry E. Van Schoonhoven, Greeley, Colorado. Three daughters, Anita Lois Deming and husband Rodney of Granbury, Texas, Carol Roth and husband Jerry of Greeley, Colorado and Effie Lewis of Sheridan, Wyoming; Eight grandsons, three granddaughters, and five great grandchildren; her sister, Adelia Halliwill, of Hope, Arkansas and three sister-in-laws, Gladys Draper of Troy, Missouri, Vera Van Schoonhoven of Winner, South Dakota and Leona Van Schoonhoven of Rapid City, South Dakota.
She is preceded in death by: Her husband Carl, her parents, John and Myrtle Draper and her twin Nettie Johnson; her brothers Neville and Robert (Bob) and her sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 21, 2009 at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel, 1235 Junction Avenue in Sturgis, South Dakota. Interment will follow at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis.
