Patrick H. "Pat" Olsen, 51, of Sacramento, California, died on Monday, January 15, 2007 at Hospice of Metro Denver in Aurora. He was born on February 9, 1955 in Denver to Robert J. and Elizabeth A. (Brown) Olsen. Pat graduated from Littleton High School in 1973. He attended Mesa College in Grand Junction where he earned his Associates Degree. While living in Grand Junction he worked for and became manager of the T-Bone Steak House. He went on to attend Colorado Mountain College in Glenwood Springs and later attended Colorado State University where he earned his degree in landscape architecture, eventually working for Ciavonne, Roberts and Associates Architects of Grand Junction. He eventually moved to Sacramento where he worked to become a licensed architect in the state of California and studied satellite imagery to work on land reclamation & wetlands restoration for Restoration Resources of Rocklin, Ca. Mr. Olsen enjoyed the outdoors, especially mountain biking, camping, skiing, traveling and painting. He was also very involved member of 4-H as a young adult. Pat and his family were proud of the fact that they are fifth generation Coloradoans. His great great grandfather Peter Magnes, formerly an Arapaho County Commissioner, homesteaded in the Littleton area and was known for his work with sugar beets and making beets a viable crop for Colorado. Survivors include his parents, Robert & Elizabeth Olsen of Hotchkiss, Colorado; his sister, Lynda Cannon of Hotchkiss; 5 brothers, Don Olsen & wife Cindy of Hotchkiss, Glenn Olsen & wife Liz of Prescott, Arizona, Jimmy Olsen of Colorado Springs, Ken Olsen & wife Judy of Eaton, Colorado and Christopher Olsen of Northern California; his niece, Brandy Olsen of Los Angeles, California; 3 nephews, Michael Olsen & wife Ericka and their daughter Emily all of Boulder, Colorado, Matt Olsen of Boulder and Ben Olsen of Eaton; 2 uncles, John Olsen and wife Ann of Prescott, Arizona and Russ Brown and wife Patsy of Cortez, Colorado and his special friend, Claudia, of Sacramento. He is preceded in death by his uncle, Leo Olsen. A memorial service to celebrate Pat's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2007 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Hotchkiss. Cremation. Memorial gifts may be made in Pat's name to your local hospice or to the American Cancer Society.
