Percy Robert Wilson, Sr., 90, of Greeley, Colorado, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at his home.
He was born on August 14, 1935, in College Station, Texas to William Moore and Mina Belle (Terry) Wilson. After graduating high school, Percy served two years in the United States Army as a medic in Germany. Soon after the completion of his service, he began working as a carpenter. He was a hard worker and spent 60+ years dedicated to his craft before retiring.
Percy met Betty Jean Neville and fell in love. The two were married in Hagerstown, Maryland on June 23, 1961. They moved to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, where they made their home for over 60 years. Together they built a family and had four beautiful children, whom they cherished. In 2021 the couple moved to Greeley, Colorado, where they lived together until Betty’s passing in January of 2023. Percy remained in their home until he too passed and went to meet with Betty again with the Lord.
Percy was a man of deep faith and was a dedicated member of the Poudre Valley Church of Christ. He loved building and making furniture as a hobby outside of his work as a carpenter. He also enjoyed listening to Bluegrass CDs, cassettes, and records. In fact, he had 78 records he liked to play on his Victrola! His love for music inspired him to learn the guitar, and he often enjoyed playing. In his spare time, Percy could be found reading Westerns or riding his bike to the park. He also enjoyed travelling and loved trains. Above all, he adored his family and friends and cherished the time he spent with them.
Percy is preceded in death by his parents, Mina Belle (Terry) and William Moore Wilson, Sr.; his beloved wife, Betty Jean Wilson; his brothers, William Moore Wilson, Jr., Charles Edward Wilson, and Herbert Wilson; and his sisters, Marjorie Elizabeth Stover, and Mina Frances Bamhill.
He is survived by his children, Percy Wilson, Jr., Tammy Thomas, Kevin Wilson, and Keith Wilson; his 10 grandchildren; and his 3 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 11th Avenue in Evans, Colorado. Graveside services will follow at Linn Grove Cemetery.
