Perry Lee Haythorn, 63 of Eaton, died on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at his home surrounded by family.
He was born on October 10, 1947 in Greeley, Colorado to John R. and Betty L. Haythorn.
Perry was a 1965 graduate of Eaton High School and then attended Southern Colorado State College in Pueblo, Colorado where he studied auto mechanics. He went on to join the U.S. Army Reserves where he was stationed in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri for six years. He returned to Eaton to raise cattle, sheep and farm with his father and only brother, Roy. He and Roy were fourth generation farmers for the Haythorn family; Perry resided in the Town of Eaton his entire life.
Perry was the president of Terry Reservoir and served on the Larimer & Weld Irrigation Board from 1985-2008. He was a member of the Colorado Cattle Feeders Association. In his spare time, Perry was also an avid "gear-head" with a remarkable knowledge of classic cars and hot rods.
On March 25, 1988, Perry married Janet Marie (Adams) Bauman. They resided in Eaton for their 23 years of marriage.
Survivors include his wife, Janet; his brother, Roy; three children, Elizabeth (Jim) Perkins, Russell (Emily) Haythorn and Daniel (Adrienne) Haythorn; two step-children, Shane (Jenni) Bauman and Aaron Bauman; eight grandchildren, Sterling, Alexa, Reese, Max, Sam, Kade, Graissen and Macielu; mother-in-law, Barbara Adams; two nephews, Joey (Emily) and Riley (Shasti); one niece, Kellie (Josh); five cousins, Judi, Suzy (Ron), Janey (Terry) and Bob; and one aunt, Marie (Haythorn) Galloway.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John R. and Betty Haythorn; his father-in-law, Glenn P. Adams; his sister-in-law, Deanna Haythorn; his cousin, Joe Beitman; and aunt, Bette (Haythorn) Beitman.
A memorial service for Perry will be held at Evangelical Free Church of Eaton, 1325 3rd Street, Eaton, at 11:00 in the morning on Wednesday, May 11, 2011. In honor of Perry, guests are encouraged to fire-up their classic cars, hot rods and motorcycles and drive those to the service.
