Rachel E. Keyser, 85, of Greeley died Sunday, March 29th, in her home.
She was born October 5, 1923 in Wallace, KS to John Lucas and Goldie Camp-Lucas. Rachel moved with her family to CO in 1937 and graduated from East High School in Denver in 1940. Following high school, she attended business school and then married Regis McKay in 1941 where they ranched in Dillion, CO. They later moved to Denver and, in 1956, Rachel and her family moved to Greeley. She worked for McMillen Claims Service and Weld County School District. Rachel married John Keyser on September 4, 1970; her loving husband for 38 years.
Rachel was an RSVP volunteer for more than 20 years, honored as the volunteer of the month, an avid seamstress, regularly attended exercise class, and an active member of various bridge clubs. She was blessed with a wonderful circle of friends and had an enviable social schedule until the time of her death. Rachel loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and was well-known for her superb dinners for family and friends.
Preceding Rachel in death were her parents and brothers Bill, Guy, and Leon. She is survived by her husband, John; two children, Jim McKay of Tyler, TX and JoAnn Schroeder of Lander, WY; two step-children, Brad Keyser of Lafayette and Sharon Smith of Greeley; eight grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
A memorial service to celebrate Rachel's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel in Evans, 3501 S. 11th Avenue.
