Raimundo a.k.a. "Ray" or "Mundo" Silvestre Guzman, 84, passed away February 3rd, 2025, at his home in Platteville, Colorado. He was surrounded by his loved ones.
Ray was born January 23, 1941, to Silvestre and Dolores (Perez) Guzman in La Pryor, Texas.
He and his family eventually moved to Colorado where Ray eventually met the love of his life Maria Evangelina "Vangie" Santistevan. The two were married in 1963, and settled in Ault, Colorado.
Ray was co-owner, along with his wife Vangie, of Guzman's groceries for many years. He had his own band for many years called Guzman y La Tropa Unida and they even recorded a record entitled "Falsa" Aside from spending time with his family, Ray enjoyed playing the guitar, singing, fishing, and watching football and boxing. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Ray is survived by his sons Fred, Jerry and Pete Valdez, all of Greeley, Colorado, his daughters Marina (Diego) Gallegos of Denver, Colorado, Marilyn Valdez of Windsor, Colorado, Lorraine Valdez of Platteville, Colorado and Debbie Rivera of Platteville, Colorado, brothers Tony Guzman of Denver, Colorado, and David (Shelly) Guzman of Pierce, Colorado, sisters Lupe (Edgar) Alpizar of Daytona, Florida, Stella Guzman of North Dakota, and Gloria (Adolph) Rodriguez of Windsor, Colorado, 31 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and 10+ great-great grandchildren.
He is proceeded by his wife Maria "Vangie" Evangelina Guzman, his parents Silvestre (Maria) Guzman and Dolores Guzman Perez, and his sons Richard Guzman and Steve Valdez.
A visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 12, 2025, with a Recitation of the Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. both at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday February 13, 2025, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ault. Interment following at the Eaton Cemetery.
