Ralph H. Patten, 72, of Evans, died on Monday, May 22, 2006 at the Hospice & Palliative Care of Northern Colorado Inpatient Unit.
He was born on June 15, 1933 in Ames, Oklahoma to Franklin H. and Gail L. (Taber) Patten.
Ralph graduated from Greeley High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 until 1955.
Mr. Patten married Wanda L. Miller on August 30, 1955 in Evans at the Motorena Drive-In Theatre. The couple lived in Platteville for most of their married life until moving to Las Vegas in 1999. They moved to Evans, Colorado in 2000.
He worked for Herren – Strong Construction and Weld County Road and Bridge for many years. He later worked for the Town of Platteville and the Starr Garage in Platteville. He retired in 1991 due to ill health.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Patten of Evans; a daughter and her husband, Rhea and Mike Hoops of Longmont, Colorado; 2 sons, Rick A. Patten of Thornton, Colorado and Dana R. Patten and his wife DeeDee of Gilcrest, Colorado; 6 grandchildren, Jason Patten, Todd Patten, Brittany Boos, Brianna Boos, Caty Patten and Bridgit Patten; 3 great grandchildren, Jaxson Patten, Ryun Patten and Lily Patten; a sister, Lorene G. Hirsch of Dayton, Texas; 2 brothers, Hugh M. Patten of Folsom, California and Elvin D. Patten of Eaton, Colorado. He is preceded in death by his parents, twin brothers, Ronald R. and Donald J. Patten and another brother, Robert L. Patten.
A graveside memorial service to celebrate Ralph's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 26, 2006 at the Mizpah Cemetery in Platteville. The service will be conducted by the Greeley V.F.W. with full military honors. For those unable to attend the memorial service there will be a reception at the Greeley V.F.W. hosted by the Ladies Auxiliary beginning at approximately 12:00 Noon following the celebration of Ralph's life.
