Reuben Frank Betz, 85 of Greeley, Colorado, died after an extended illness on October 16, 2015 with his family by his side. Reuben was born in Gering, Nebraska to Frank and Margeret (Kaiser) Betz on August 31, 1930 the seventh of eight children.
He attended school in Bayard, Nebraska and surrounding area. Moving to Colorado in 1946 he farmed in the Lucerne area until retiring in 1995.
On December 30, 1951 he married Shirley Kindsfater at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church located on 8th Avenue. This December would have been 64 years of marriage.
To this marriage two children were born, son Raymond Edward Betz wife Glenda and daughter Susan Kay Casseday and husband Tom all of Eaton. They have four granddaughters: Julie and Brian Schawo, Candace and Doug Stone, both of Eaton. Emily Jackson and AD Vaughn of Frisco, TX and Tommi Sue & Todd Chapman of Greeley, CO. Six Great Grandchildren: Travis & MaKinsey Schawo, Kymber, Kody and Kaybree Chapman and Baily Vaughn.
Reuben was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Raymond and Leo Betz and five sisters: Marie Michael and Esther Fries both of Bayard, NE, Martha Valentine of Alliance, NE, Rose Micor of Denver, CO and Ruth Newman of Sturgis, SD.
The family would like to thank Eldergarden and the Fairacres caregivers for their patience and caregiving during his extended illness and all caregivers.
Funeral services to celebrate Reuben’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 23, 2015 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 1800 21st Avenue. Graveside services following at 2:30 p.m. on Friday at the Eaton Cemetery.
