Obituary

Rhoda Faith Rogers was born on September 5, 1938, to the Revs. Henry and Rosalyn (Olander) Mock in Yankton, South Dakota. Soon after, Rhoda and her twin brother, David Fred Mock, joined their parents in a move to Havana, Cuba, where they were missionaries until the 1950's. Several years of that time the family also lived in the Dominican Republic where her brother, Paul William Mock, was born. Rhoda's family returned to the US where they lived in Price, Utah, Windsor, and Colorado Springs, Colorado. She graduated from Colorado Springs High School (now Palmer High) in 1956 and later attended Northern Central University and the University of Minnesota. On December 2, 1966, she married the love of her life, Michael W Rogers, of Greeley. David M Rogers was born to them on December 22, 1969. Rhoda was very active in Greeley as president of Greeley Junior Women's Club and Women's Association of First United Presbyterian Church (now Cornerstone Community Church). She was a member of PEO, Chapter EC, former board member of Hospice, former board member of Partners of the Americas (had gone to Brazil for a 2-week educational experience) and medical mission trips to Jamaica, El Salvador and Peru.
In 1983 she enrolled at the University of Northern Colorado to complete a degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing. In 2005, she was honored by the Colorado Nurses Foundation with the coveted Florence Nightengale award for her nursing excellence in human caring. She was also honored in 2008 as distinguished honored alumni by the University of Northern Colorado. Her lifetime knowledge of Spanish was very useful with the Hispanic population (who has a high incidence of Type 2 diabetes) and she served over 25 years as a diabetes nurse educator for Sunrise Community Health Center in Greeley and Loveland, Salud Community Health Center in Fort Lupton, Northern Colorado Medical Center, and Longmont Hospital. Rhoda resided in Greeley until late 2022, when following her husband's death, she returned to Colorado Springs to be closer to her son.
Rhoda had many hobbies throughout her life, including jewelry designing, gardening, sewing, and entertainment. Nothing made her happier than setting a beautiful dinner table and serving a gourmet meal to her friends and family.
Rhoda was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Rogers, her brothers David and Paul, and her parents.
She is survived by her son, David Rogers (and his wife LauraLynn), her granddaughter Abigail and her grandson Daniel.
