Richard Corella, 58 of Greeley, died on Sunday, January 24, 2009 at the Windsor Health Care Nursing Home.
He was born on November 21, 1951 in San Antonio, Texas to Severio and Emma (Chavez) Corella.
Richard enlisted in the U.S. Army following graduation from high school and he served as a paratrooper during the Vietnam War. He lived in Denver and the Greeley areas for most of his life. Richard was a person who was always laughing, smiling and joking. He loved to listen to music and watch old western movies and taking trips to the mountains.
Survivors include 4 sisters, JoAnn Salazar, Vangie Corella, Louise Martinez and Emma Sandoval and her husband, Santiago Gonzalez; 4 brothers, Gilbert Sandoval and his wife Rachel, John Torres and his wife Ruby and Fidel Sandoval and Henry Sandoval and several nieces & nephews & friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Isabelle Davila.
A memorial service to celebrate Richard's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2009 at New Hope Christian Fellowship, 1900 AA Street in Greeley. Interment will follow at 2:15 p.m. on Thursday at the Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
