Richard Lee "Dick" Whisenhunt, 62 of Greeley, died on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at the Hospice & Palliative Care of Northern Colorado Inpatient Unit.
He was born on March 10, 1945 in Denver, Colorado to Skiffey Henry and Edith Fay (Sheesley) Whisenhunt.
Dick served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War where he served in Europe. Following his time in the Army he lived in Brighton, Colorado where he worked for Kuner's. He later went on to work for Monfort Packing Company where he worked from 1976 until 1991 when an injury at work would no longer allow him to do so.
In his younger years he enjoyed fishing and following his injury he took up latch hook. Dick is an avid Denver Broncos fan and has been for most of his life. All that know him would agree that a fitting sentiment would be – "Goodbye Dick – ride 'em cowboy.".
Survivors include 2 sisters, Carol Walker of Ft. Lupton, Colorado and Janice Greggs and her husband David of New Castle, Washington, a brother, Larry Whisenhunt and his wife Sharon of Berthoud, Colorado; 2 nephews and 2 nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at the Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver. Staging area "C". Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army and the All Veteran's Honor Guard.
