Obituary

Richard Blair (Dick) Hawley, 75, of Greeley passed away at NCMC Hospital on January 29, 2025, surrounded by his family.

He was born November 16, 1949, in Sacramento, California to his loving parents William and Gwen (Hopkins) Hawley. From a young age, he was known for his quick wit and straightforward personality, traits which remained with him throughout his life. He graduated from Greeley West High School in 1967. He then furthered his education with a football scholarship and studied Political Science at the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho.

In 1966, he met the love of his life, Deanna Dickinson, in Greeley, Colorado. They later married on July 10, 1970. They celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary this past July.

In 1966 he also started his career in the Fertilizer Industry at J.R. Simplot Company. He continued in the fertilizer industry for 33 years representing his talent at Superior Fertilizer, Agrichem, Inc., Central Inc., American Fertilizer, Green-it Turf Products and Ruffin Micronutrients.

In 1999, seeking a change, he began his career with Weld County School District RE-8 in Ft. Lupton, Colorado as Director of Building and Grounds Maintenance and Transportation. Where he later retired in 2016 after 17 years of dedication to the Ft. Lupton Community.

He was a proud member of the Rocky Mountain Plant Food Association, Rocky Mountain Golf Course Association, Colorado Sports Turf Association, Rocky Mountain Turf Grass Association (Past Publicity Chairman), and Rocky Mountain Turf Grass Foundation (Past Vice President).

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, he was known for his kindness, love, and unwavering loyalty to both his family and friends. He enjoyed riding his Harley, gardening, cooking for family and friends, and supporting his children and grandchildren in all their activities. In his final years, he expressed his deep love for his family and friends. He was a trustworthy man with an honest heart, always giving and deeply loved by all around him.

Dick is survived by his wife Deanna of Greeley, brother John Hawley of Campion, son Chad Hawley (Crystal Cooper) of Greeley, daughter Wende Younger (Brad) of Colorado Springs, Paula Hawley of Greeley, grandchildren Beau Hawley, Jadyn Hawley, Ren Gonzalez, Brendon Younger (Rylie Zufelt), and numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, parent in-laws, grandparents, and many friends and relatives.

A Celebration of Life will be held February 19, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Moser Funeral and Cremation Service, 3501 11th Avenue, Evans, Colorado 80620.

Light Meal and Fellowship will immediately follow at the Evans Community Center at 1100 37th Street, Evans, Colorado 80620.
