Richard "Dick" Thompson, 78, of Kersey, Colorado passed away September 19, 2023, at his home with family by his side.
He was born March 10, 1945, to Lloyd and Marion (Hinkley) Thompson in Denver, Colorado. Dick attended Golden High School as well as Red Rocks Community College. He was a proud veteran, serving 4 years in the United States Navy. His employment included various concrete and construction jobs, before ultimately finding employment with the phone company which he worked at for 35 years.
Dick met the love of his life Shirley Lynn Stoos and they married August 6, 1966. They resided in the Lakewood, Colorado area for 16 years before settling in Kersey, Colorado in November of 1984. He was a faithful member of Resurrection Fellowship Church. He enjoyed gardening, traveling with his wife and family and had a knack for photography – he loved taking photos of just about anything and everything. Dick will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Shirley Thompson, his daughters Laura (Kevin) Hudson, and Wendy (Larry) Tekler all of Kersey, his grandkids, Rachelle (Collin) Harper of Lochbuie, Kerry Hudson of Kersey, his brother, Don (Emma) Thompson of Arizona, sisters Kathi (Bear) Bucher of Washington, Christine Thompson of Montrose, Colorado, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Lloyd and Marion Thompson, and his son Donald Thompson.
A Memorial Open House will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 23, 2023, at the Thompson Home.
