Obituary

Ricky "Rick" Dean Crawford, 60 of Evans, passed away October 15, 2022, at Pathways Hospice Inpatient Care Center in Ft. Collins from complications of Carcinoid Cancer/Neuroendocrine Tumors. He was born on April 30, 1962, to Gary Dean and Mary Elizabeth (Gibb) Crawford in Denver, CO.

Shortly after Rick's birth in 1962 his parents and his sister Tina moved to Greeley. Rick attended Arlington and East Memorial elementary schools, John Evans Jr. High, and Greeley West High. In October of 1980 he married Louise Eva Culhane. Together they had two children, Jennifer Lynn and Kevin Dean "Minyon". They divorced in 2005 but remained good friends. Rick never remarried.

Rick was not a stranger to hard work. He started working at the age of 14. He mowed lawns, installed sprinkler systems with his Dad, washed out cattle trucks and did veterinary work with Drs. Don and Larry Mackey. He worked at TWX Express, Agland, Williams Transportation, Willies Grain, and Lundvall Enterprises. In February of 2003 he was sought out and offered a position at Bridgestone GCR. He remained there until August of 2021, when he was forced to take a leave of absence due to health reasons. Rick was a hard worker and never said "no" even on his worst days.

Rick played football and was an avid wrestler in school. He was a loyal Boy Scout and an outstanding pack leader. Rick loved riding his horse "Spook" and was honored when the City of Greeley asked him and Spook to lead the 1979 Bronco Parade in Greeley. He played city league softball and was an exceptional left fielder. He co-coached his sister's city league softball team for two years and led them to two consecutive championship titles. Rick looked forward to outings and trips with his family members, watching the Colorado Avalanche, his grandson Aiden run Cross Country for GCHS, and decorating for Halloween and Christmas. He enjoyed playing Bingo with his mother, attending Colorado Eagles games with his son Kevin and brother-in-law Terry, camping, fishing, and most recently, a trip to South Carolina to walk the beach and wade in the ocean. After he left work in 2021, he took up woodworking crafts. Rick took pride in embellishing his 1994 Ford or as he called it, his Tijuana Taxi, and his pets Nia and Cocoa. Most of all, Rick dearly loved his family, both immediate and extended. His legacy as being a kind, loving person, who always put others first and would have given you the shirt off his back, will be forever loved and dearly missed!

He is survived by his son Kevin (Michelle) Crawford of Evans, his father Gary Crawford of Evans, his sister Tina (Terry) Maxwell of Evans, his grandchildren Aiden, Emily and Jenyll, nieces Stacy, Lindsey and Alexa, nephews Shawn, James, Brian, Bobby, Brendon, great nephews Teagan, Brady, Ellington, and two great nieces Kamdyn and Ava. Extended family members Jean (Duane) Baessler, Judy Doll, Jimmy (Caryn) Culhane and Todd Koppen, several aunts and uncles and numerous cousins. Special Friends: Chas Gerk, Mike Stone, Super Dave VanBuskirk and his medical advocate Peggy Yarwood.
