Obituary

Robert Earl Standen, age 77 April 19, 1931 – November 4, 2008
Bob arrived to travel this earth's journey on April 19, 1931 in Edgemont, South Dakota, born to Robert Earl Standen and Beulah Rhoades Standen.
At age 8, he and his family moved "lock, stock and barrel" to Powell, Wyoming to homestead while building and living in an Adobe house.
After his father's death in 1947, the family moved to Custer, Wyoming, living and growing up there until, as a young man, he joined the Navy from 1948 – 1952. After that he worked many jobs including on a seismograph crew that led him to Yuma, Colorado. Yuma was where he would meet his "bride" of 53 years Nola Faye Prather. It was the beginning of a 53 year love story that was blessed with 5 children, 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
He rejoined the military, Air Force, from 1957- 1964, stationed mainly in Germany and Florida. After his service, they moved back to Colorado to begin yet another cross country journey, including Cheyenne, Wyoming, Great Falls, Montana, Knob-Noster, Missouri, Minot, North Dakota while working for Boeing and then back to Colorado. Bob went to work for Monfort for many years. He did a wonderful job of raising 5 children to be kind, respectful, accepting, loving and mindful of family and the true love that binds us. His life was filled with years of loving, laughing and giving. Years of finding, loving and accepting the Lord.
Survivors include his wife Nola, his daughters Pam Standen & partner Liane Emerson of Fort Collins, Mindy Heiden & husband Mike of Greeley, Lynne Judish & husband Anthony of Fort Collins, Laurie Downs & husband Gary of Windsor, a son, Robert W. Standen & wife Kristin of Greeley, a sister Darlene Eikum of Greeley, 16 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and a great number of nieces and nephews and a step-sister Alice Hagenlock of Custer, South Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Beulah, and his step-father, Walt Herzburg.
