Obituary

Robert Lee "Bob" Stewart, 60 of Eaton, Colorado, died on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at the Hospice & Palliative Care Inpatient Unit in Greeley. He was born on November 4, 1948 in Greeley, Colorado to Lawrence Everette and Ruby Dora (Moser) Stewart. Bob graduated from Highland High School in Ault in 1966. He later attended Colorado State University in Ft. Collins. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict from April 7, 1969 until November 16, 1970. Mr. Stewart was a man of many different talents. He roughnecked in the oil fields & for 2 years he worked for the electric company installing towers for power lines from Cheyenne to Platteville. He farmed in the Eaton/Ault areas for many years. Bob also worked as a firefighter for the Poudre Fire Authority from Jan. 1, 1979 until his retirement on Oct.23, 2008. He earned the rank of EMT/Engineer. He felt very at home in the out of doors. He enjoyed hunting, packing, fishing, and logging. He also enjoyed welding and inventing. It was not unusual for him to make from scratch something in his shop that would make his job easier. Survivors include a brother, Lawrence E. Stewart Jr. and wife Patsy of Eaton; 3 half brothers, Earl Stewart and wife Shirley of Greeley, Jerry Rudd of Nunn and Al Rudd and wife Collet of Eaton; a half sister, Lois Barnaby of Washington and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces. He is also survived by a group of longtime friends from the many chapters in his life. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Ruby Stewart, a half brother, Loree Rudd and a half sister, Louise Hall. A memorial service to celebrate Bob's life will be held 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at the Lincoln Center, 417 Magnolia St., in Ft. Collins. The Poudre Fire Authority and the U.S. Army will provide honors. Memorial gifts may be made to Disabled American Veterans Service Center in care of Moser Funeral Service, 3501 S. 11th Avenue, Evans, Colorado 80620.
