Obituary

Rohealo "Roy" Orlando Garza, 48, of Gill, passed away on February 4, 2024, at his home.

He was born December 22, 1975, to Ramon & Veronica J. (Mestas) Garza in Little Rock, Arkansas. Roy earned a GED and went on to work at Norm's Sod and Sprinkler, Mungia Concrete, JBS, Portions and did numerous odd jobs throughout his life. Roy attended The Rock Church in the later part of his life.

As a child, he liked to collect Tonka Trucks. As an adult it became tools that he would collect. Roy was the type of man who always put others first. He was a very strong-willed person, direct and to the point, but he loved unconditionally. He had many friends. He loved to cook and do yard work. He would get up in the summertime and grill for himself and Chico, his dog.

It is hard to put into words the profound sense of loss that we feel. We find comfort in the beautiful memories that Roy has left us, memories that will forever be etched in our hearts.

He is survived by his mother, Veronica J. Garza, his sons, Roy, Jr., Anthony, Victor, and Julian, his brothers, Ramon (Lori) and Reynaldo (Lucy) Garza, his sisters, Ramona (David) Ortega and Lorenza (Norman) Martinez and many nieces and nephews, and his pet companion "Chico"

Roy is also survived by Norman Martinez, Norman's brother, Joe Yanes, Norman's mother and father and the rest of the Martinez family. Norman, Joe, and the Martinez family played an important role in Roy's life. For much of Roy's adult life, Norman, Joe, and the Martinez family were basically a second immediate family to Roy. Norman hired Roy into his business as an employee, but Roy quickly became not just an employee, but became part of the Martinez family. They supported Roy through the tough times, shared in the good times and always cared for and loved Roy as one of their own. The Garza family will always be grateful and thankful to Norman, Joe, and the Martinez family for how they loved and supported Roy all those years.

He was preceded by his father, Ramon Garza, and his grandparents. Mr. & Mrs. Manuel Garza, Sr. and Grace R. Montoya.

A celebration of Roy's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at The Rock Church, 1091 10th Avenue in Greeley, Colorado.
