Ronald Edwin Hunter, 73, of Brush, Colorado, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.
Ron was born on January 2, 1952, in Brush, to Paul Edwin and Erna May (Pippitt) Hunter. He grew up in Lakewood and graduated from Alameda High School in 1971.
On June 12, 1971, Ron married the love of his life, Kathrine "Kathy" Jameson, at Broomfield Assembly of God. Together they built a life and home in Lafayette, Federal Heights, and Thornton. Ron's early career included working at Kenny's Marine, Jameson Delivery, and Paul's Marine.
Later, Ron pursued a career as an independent courier. He took great pride in his work, especially in ensuring time-sensitive deliveries were handled with care—no matter the hour. He retired in 2018, and he and Kathy returned to Brush to enjoy their retirement years.
Ron was deeply committed to his faith and devoted many hours to serving in his local church. He volunteered in a variety of ministries over the years, including Royal Rangers, youth ministry, children's church, seasonal decorating of the sanctuary, and coordinating senior activities. He also served faithfully as a church deacon, providing leadership and support to the congregation and pastoral staff. His church community and spiritual life were a meaningful and consistent part of his journey.
Ron had a passion for the outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, and was especially proud of his skills in cooking and smoking meats. His prized possession was his 1963 Ford F100 pickup, but nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Ron is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 54 years, Kathy Hunter; his children, Tory (Tammy) Hunter and Tonya (Dennis) Howell; grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Haley Howell, and Daniel (Natalie) Reed; great-grandson, Jedediah; sister, Ronda (Rob) Knuth; brother, Randy (Pat) Hunter; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Erna Hunter.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at the Brush Memorial Cemetery. The casket will be closed, and no visitation is planned.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Platte Valley Baptist Church Building Fund, 22750 US Hwy 34, Fort Morgan, CO 80701.
