Ron was raised in Casper, WY and graduated from Natrona County High School in 1965. After graduation, he served his country in the Navy aboard one of the first nuclear submarines, the Lafayette. He also taught classes on nuclear power for the military. After the service, he attended Casper College and then went on to the University of Wyoming where he earned a chemical engineering degree. The degree was put to use as he worked in the oil fields where he was well-respected. His job took him to Colorado in 1981. At the time of his death, he was living in Brush, CO and working for Calfrac Well Services. Ron's first love was the devotion he gave to his Heavenly Father. This devotion was shown to others by the activities in which he was involved. He enjoyed teaching Bible classes to the youth of the church as well as coaching youth soccer teams. When he volunteered for Hospice, he was always willing to sit with those in need and bring them comfort. While working with the Weld County Humane Society, it was many a night he was awakened by a call to rescue an injured animal. Some of his other interests include being a member of the Arabian Horse Association and the Griswold Cast-Iron Club. Ron was preceded in death by one daughter and his father. He leaves behind on this earth to grieve: his loving wife, Dolly of Brush, CO; a daughter, Brandi of Casper, WY; two sons, Jason of Burleson, TX and David of Parker, CO; three grandsons; his mother, Lela Knudsen of Casper, WY; a sister Ruth and brother Donald of Casper, WY. He was loved by many who called him "Papa." In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your local Humane Society or the Kidney Foundation of America. Ron will be laid to rest with his family in Hot Springs, SD.
