Roy 'Bob" Bliss, 89 of Greeley, Colorado died on Sunday, June 19, 2011 at the Bonell Good Samaritan Center in Greeley.
He was born on May 8, 1922 in Miller, Nebraska to Albertus N. and Josephine (Gustus) Bliss
Bob moved to Kearney at an early age and went to Kearney public schools. He graduated from Kearney High in 1939. He served in the navy from June 1941 until November 1945. He married Lois Ray Dec 29th 1946; He attended Kearney State College until 1946 and graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1950 with a degree in Business and Accounting. His first job was in Cozad Nebraska for 4 yrs and then 16 yrs in Fremont Nebraska. In 1970 he took a job with Monfort Feedlots as an accountant for the cattle inventory. He also worked for ConAgra and Swift for a short time. In his retirement he was employed at GoJo Sports part time along with his wife Lois.
Survivors include his wife, Lois; his children, Tom and Jacqueline Athy, Douglas and Jeanne Bliss, David and Marcia Bliss and Robert Bliss; 9 grandsons and 10 great grand children.
Mr. Bliss loved to travel along with his hobbies of golf, bowling, skiing, baseball and tennis He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he held many positions including treasurer, elder and president of the congregation. He loved his family and loved to be with them.
A memorial service to celebrate Bob's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 24, 2011 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 3000 35th Avenue in Greeley.
