Ruby J. Cogburn, 73, of Evans, died on Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at the Hospice & Palliative Care of Northern Colorado Inpatient Unit.
She was born on October 25, 1932 in Greeley to Claude and Elizabeth (Bell) Haun.
Ruby married Harley E. Ferris who preceded her in death. She later married Elbert "Butch" Cogburn on June 24, 1967 in Greeley.
She lived in the Greeley area for most of her life. She attended Greeley schools and later in her adult life she completed her G.E.D. at the same time as her daughter Kay. Ruby placed in the top 10 in the nation in English that year for those completing their G.E.D.. After earning her G.E.D. she obtained her real estate license.
The most important thing in Ruby's life was her faith in God and caring for her family and extended family. She attended the Hope Center Church.
Survivors include her husband, Butch Cogburn of Evans; two daughters and their husbands, Kay & Herb Ley of Las Vegas, Nevada and Patti & Jan Massey of Canon City, Colorado; two sons and their wives, Harley K. and Beverly Ferris of Rincon, Georgia and Ricky L. and Dara Ferris of Archdale, North Carolina; three sisters, Alta Lloyd, Gladys Buxman and Beverly Dhooge all of Greeley; a brother, Alvin Haun of Altadena, California; 15 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild and a special niece, Gina Kortmeyer and her family all of Greeley. In addition to her first husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, 4 sisters and 1 granddaughter.
A funeral service to celebrate Ruby's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 7, 2006 at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 S. 11th Avenue in Evans. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. until time of service on Friday both at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel.
