On Friday, February 19, 2021 Mr. Rudy Henry Mayfield passed away at his residence in Evans Co. From natural causes at the age of 72.
Rudy was born on June 20, 1948 in Lamar Colorado to a Louis Henry Mayfield; father and Alta Smathie Boice; mother.
After high school Rudy joined the ARMY and served in the Vietnam war. Rudy did not discuss much of his experiences in the war with others and eventually overcame the effects of P.T.S.D. on his own.
Rudy married Helen Lanore Rehmer shortly after his service in Vietnam and would have celebrated 50 years with his beautiful wife this year. Rudy was a roofer for a good portion of his younger years, then in his 40s graduated from UNC with a bachelor's degree.
Rudy was a therapist at North Range Behavioral Health in Weld County with 20 years of devoted service. He loved to draw, paint, and make jewelry. He was very proud of his Cherokee Indian heritage, being his grandparents were full blooded Cherokee and his father was mostly of native American descent.
Rudy was an amputee, missing his left leg from just below the knee down caused by an accident. He struggled and always persevered through life for the sake and survival of his family. he was truly a warrior spirit and inspiration to those who knew him. He was also kind and full of witty jokes.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Bill and Gene.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Helen Lanore Mayfield are his sons, Henry Mayfield and Morgan Mayfield and his wife Morgan of Greeley Co., his daughter Crystal Mayfield and her husband Kevin of Greeley Co., Grandchildren, Brandon Mayfield, who was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Mayfield, River Mayfield, Will Garrett, Abby Bruellisauer, Jaydan Mayfield, Norma Aleja Garcia Carvajal, Wyatt Garrett, Triton Mayfield, Kolton Jack Mayfield and numerous great grandkids.
A viewing will be held at Moser Funeral Home in Evans CO on February 27, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for family members ONLY. Graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial, 3400 W 28th St. In Greeley CO at 1:00 p.m. and is OPEN to friends and family of Rudy.
Pallbearers will be; Chuck Rehmer, Morgan Mayfield, Henry Mayfield, Brandon Mayfield, River Mayfield and Jaydan Mayfield.
