After a long illness, on Sept 15, 2026, at the age of 75, God reached down and took Russell Junior Davis home.

On Dec 13, 1950, Russ was placed in the loving arms of Russell Davis Sr. and Elaine R. Davis of Sioux City, Iowa. Russ had the best childhood! His home was close to the park, swimming pool, and ballpark. His folks always told him to be home when the streetlights come on. His friends and him could go to the movies, have a Coca Cola, and popcorn for $1.20. They would go to Happies Store with pop bottles to trade in for money to go. Russ bought his first car (Packard) and insurance for 100 dollars. It took more oil than gas, but many friends could pile into it. Before graduation, his dad bought him a 1969, blue, Roadrunner with a hemi. It was his pride and joy. He spent many hours along the Missouri River fishing. He also trained dogs for hunting. He won the Hunters Special in 1972 with his dog (Sam). Russ was a lifelong Nebraska fan; everyone knew he wanted Husker stuff. He had a passion for cooking, inherited from his mom. His Thanksgiving turkey dinners were the BEST!

Russell attended Central High School in Sioux City, Iowa, and he graduated in 1969. Russ participated in football and wrestling. In 8th grade, his coach (Pitkin) moved him to the High School wrestling team. He attended Worthington State Junior College on a wrestling scholarship. He won three letters for wrestling and two for football, among the six he earned at Sioux City Central prep. He was a member of the championship teams in both wrestling and football. While transferring colleges he was drafted. He served his country in the United States Army N.G. during the Vietnam Conflict, receiving his honorable discharge in 1977. In the Army, Russ set the scopes on heavy artillery “big guns” as Field First. The Army recognized his gifts for leadership, organization, and perfection.

In 1970, Russ married Lynne Hasek. They had a beautiful baby girl (Christa). Russ coached her softball team. She made a h### of a good full-ride, lefthanded, 1st baseman (Hawkeyes). In 1988, he moved to Greeley, Colorado from Sioux City, Iowa, where he met and married Kristine Dotson in 1989. Russ raised another beautiful daughter (Aylissa). She would run to get in bed because she couldn’t wait to hear Russ tell her another tall tale about the Old Indian.

Russell worked in the construction trade for many years as a Mason. He ran his own business, Davis Construction. With his gift for perfection, he built a 20ft column perfectly square and straight out of brick. Before retiring in 2013, he worked for Colorado Door Control for 20 years. He organized a shop with thousands of door closer parts.

He is missed so much! Left to cherish his memories: wife, Kristine; daughters, Christa Davis and Aylissa Helkey (Stan Helkey); sisters, Linda Patterson and Lora Henkowski (Derek Henkowski); nephews, Chad, Aaron, Josh, Wade, and Colton; and grandsons, Cash, Brayden, Liam, D’Artagnan, and Klaus.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 19, 2026, at the Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 11th Street in Evans, Colorado. His resting place will be at Cheynne National Cemetery with honors. All are welcome to attend both services.
