Russell L. Martinson Age 69 He was born in Greeley on August 8, 1940 to Hugh F. and Marion Gwendolyn (Marriner) Martinson, and he has lived in Greeley for the past 40 years. He died Sunday August 30, 2009 at Fairacres Manor Nursing Home from brain cancer. Russell entered the United States Navy in Denver on September 25, 1957 and was honorably discharged in San Diego, California on August 7, 1961 as a MA 3rd class. Russell worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 41 years as a railroad conductor. Russell belonged to the Moose Lodge 909 in Evans. He was a member of the United Transportation Union Local 202 Denver and the Greeley VFW Post 2121. Survivors: his wife, Patricia S. Martinson of Greeley, sister Mary G. VonFelt of Denver, a daughter Kellie Mathews of Greeley, a son Troy Martinson of White, Georgia, stepsons David Headley of Greeley and Joe Ewertz of Loveland, a grandson, Chase H. Martinson of White Georgia, two granddaughter, Ansley and Caitlyn Mathews of Greeley, Colorado He is preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Marion Martinson. At his request a grave side service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2009 at Linn Grove Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Evans Moose Lodge.
