Obituary

A miracle happened on Christmas morning…… Our mother, Ruth H. Ainsworth went to be with Jesus on His glorious birthday, a day our mother treasured. Oh how she loved Christmas, a perfect day to leave this earth. Nancy "Ruth" Ainsworth died December 25, 2009 in Greeley, Colorado at the age of 80. Ruth was born to Harold and Bertha Houck, July 27, 1929 in Wilmington, DE. She attended school in Wilmington, graduated from Sullins College in Bristol, Virginia and worked for a short time at the DuPont Corporation. It was there she met her husband Frank Ainsworth. They married December 26, 1949 and moved to Logan, Utah while Frank finished college at Utah State. After Frank graduated, they moved around the Midwest before settling in Sheridan, Wyoming where they raised 5 children. Ruth worked for many years sewing drapes out of her home in Sheridan. She retired in 2001. Ruth's children and grandchildren were her treasure. She was a very attentive mother and grandmother; cooking, sewing and crafting amazing one-of-a-kind gifts for them. Ruth was a gourmet cook and enjoyed sharing her meals with family and friends. She loved her flower garden, playing Skip-bo and reading. She was always thrilled with celebrating any holiday, especially Christmas. Ruth lived in Sheridan, Wyoming until 2003 when she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. At that time, her daughter Christy selflessly quit her job to take care of her mom. Ruth lived with, and was lovingly cared for, by Christy and family in Watertown, South Dakota until her death. Ruth was a woman of beauty and strength. She exemplified grace, resilience and a will to live that will be remembered forever by her offspring. Ruth insisted on eating at a properly set table with candlelight and good manners and she kept a beautiful home. She has left a remarkable legacy. She always cared for others before herself. Ruth died a Christian and knew she would see her loved ones in heaven. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her. Ruth is survived by her daughter Janet (Dan) Crego, Greeley, Co., Christy (Peter) Kinney, Watertown, SD, Laurie (Chuck) Warich, Milford, MA, one son Jeffrey Ainsworth, Brighton, Co, twelve grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and her daughter Susan Allen. Ruth's life will be celebrated with a memorial service, Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. at Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Watertown, SD.
