Ruth Ann Blanka, 66 of Ft. Collins was born in Boulder on November 30, 1949 to Lois and Floyd Blanka. She died in Fort Collins, CO on April 4, 2016 after a brief but intense experience with pancreatic cancer.
Both parents, two brothers Leroy and Eugene Blanka, preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Holly and Michael Johnson, granddaughter Zoe Johnson, and son and daughter in law Mark and Michele Robertson.
In 1973, she married Daryl Robertson. After their divorce, she worked as a hospice nurse, until declining health caused her to retire at age 58. Most of all, she loved her family, friends and her 40+ years of nursing. When physically able, she enjoyed crafts, needlework, gardening, hiking and picnics. She loved to read throughout life.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Pathways Hospice in her name. If you are motivated to action by Ruthie's loving spirit, please do something to make someone's day brighter and more comfortable. She was especially concerned with end of life care, providing comfort and nutrition to those less fortunate, and better access to healthcare.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 22 at 9:30 a.m.at the Gardens on Spring Creek in Fort Collins. There will be a brief outdoor service followed by a reception, please plan for weather as necessary. There will also be opportunity to share memories; if you are not comfortable speaking yourself, you may write something down to be read aloud.
Thank you for being a part of this Celebration of Ruth's Life.
